January 29th, 2010 - 13 weeks

We had our second appointment with Dr. Somani on Monday. I got to hear the baby's heartbeat - and it was very strong at 162! I could even hear some movements and kicks. It is always such a magical sound - especially this early when I can't feel any movement. Right now at 13 weeks the baby is about the size of an adult fist (3-4in).

Dr. Somani said that by our next appointment - I probably won't be able to fit in my normal jeans - UGH...not sure i'm ready for maternity clothes just yet. I think I'll try to stick to the bella band for as long as possible (for those of you that don't know what a bella band is...it's a 12in elastic band that goes over the top of your jeans while they're unbuttoned - it gives you a good extra few weeks until pregnancy pants are essential).

Our next appointment will be February 22nd - and that will be with our high risk doctor - I will be 16 weeks and they will do an ultrasound. Even though everything went great with my pregnancy with Noah - Dr. Somani still wants me to see the specialist to measure my cervix every couple of weeks to make sure all is good. I don't mind...that just means we get to see our baby! I'm even hoping that they will be able to tell the sex...we shall see.

Speaking of sex - I see that there is a majority vote out there that Noah will have a sister?? You were all right with your predictions the first time - so we are very interested to see if this holds true for #2 In fact, that is a frequent question we get - are you hoping for a girl? Obviously it would be cool to have one of each...but if we are blessed with another boy - we would be just as excited!

We had an eventful week with illnesses. Noah had a pretty high fever/cough/runny nose on Wednesday so off to the doctor we went. Turns out it was just viral and something he had to get over. So...we had a mommy/Noah day on Thursday! This picture if from bath time and as you can see...he's feeling much better :-)

We hope everyone has a great weekend! Stay warm!
Love and Hugs to all...

Number 2 is on the way!!

We are thrilled to share that we are expecting our second child - due August 4th. We are so excited and know that Noah will be a great big brother!

Moe and I were initially thinking that we would wait until this summer to start trying to add to our family. Well this baby had another plan and we couldn't be more ecstatic! I had actually taken a pregnancy test the Tuesday before Thanksgiving which was negative. By that Sunday - I thought it would be best to take another test. I packed Noah up and we headed to Target and I bought a one pack $4 generic test. We got home - inconclusive - ugh! Packed up Noah AGAIN and we went to Walgreens and bought a $25 First Response 2-pack! Sure enough, pregnant!

I immediately asked Noah - "Noah, do you want to be a big brother?" To which he responded, "Noooooooooo" - his answer for everything!

Next step...tell Daddy. Moe had been traveling that weekend and wasn't
scheduled to get home until after 7pm (Noah's bedtime). I decided to keep Noah awake long enough to see Daddy. I put him in a mommy-made onesie that said "Big Brother" and waited for Daddy to walk in the door. Once Moe walked in he started playing with Noah. A few minutes went by without any mention of the t-shirt. Finally I asked, "did you see his shirt?" To which Moe replied, "Yea...whose is that?" "It's HIS!" I said. "No Way!" It was really funny and we were able to celebrate for a little while as a family before putting Noah to bed.

We have had one doctor's appointment which went beautifully. I hadn't been feeling very pregnant - besides being tired and a little irritable...so I was anxious to see that little kidney bean! Dr. Somani was so excited to see us! We got right to the ultrasound and the baby looked perfect! The heartbeat was 170 and he/she was even fluttering around a little.

I was surprised at how informative our doctor was with a second child. I received the same amount of pamphlets, magazines, forms, paperwork...etc as I did when I was pregnant
with Noah...and here I thought this was like riding a bike. "Every pregnancy is different," they say.

I have been feeling pretty good so far. No morning sickness but I have been pretty exhausted...especially by the end of the day. I am just now starting my 12th week and therefore the last of my first trimester! Moving forward into the second trimester is when I'm suppose to be feeling my best. I can already feel some of my energy beginning to creep back. I must say, it's much more difficult this time around while caring for a 17 month old! We wouldn't have it any other way :-)

Our next appointment is next Monday January 25th - so we'll get to hear the heartbeat once again! We will keep you posted!

With Love,
Moe, Emily, and Noah

Baby Morris is coming!!!

We have an induction scheduled August 14th, 2008 at 9am.
Stay tuned...

Tea for two...

Just when we thought Baby Morris couldn't be showered with any more love and well wishes - Nana, Aunt Amy, and Aunt Lorey went above and beyond to give us both a very special afternoon.

Last weekend my mom and sisters hosted a baby shower at Biddies Tea House. It was such a quaint little place in downtown Dublin that served finger sandwiches, pastries, and of course, tea. Each table was set with a different quilt and each person ate off of a different pattern of china. A perfect setting for a baby shower, and an afternoon spent with friends and family.

As time gets unbelievable close to when we finally get to meet our little baby boy, we can't help but think of how excited we are for him to meet all these great people in our lives. This afternoon was so special, and I will remember it always!

Thank you Mom, Amy, and Lorey for making the day so special. You went above and beyond to make, not only this day, but my entire pregnancy so special. The three of you are such great moms - I have a lot to learn from each of you!

Love, Emily

Can someone please tell me what's going on?

I knew something was different when Mommy stopped letting me lay on her belly and give her kisses. Now, I'm not sure I could even climb up there...I didn't want to tell her, but her belly has gotten huge! Usually when my belly gets big, my parents take my treats away - well, I've been trying to tell Daddy to stop giving Mommy so many popsicles - but I'm not sure he wants to tell her to do anything these days.

Then...they completely changed the room with the computer. My favorite chair - gone! There is a new chair, but it moves when I jump up there - back and forth, back and forth - ick, makes me wanna throw up my dog food! Who would want to jump up on that new chair anyways, they put one of those slippery floors down - I've already got one bad hip - I can't risk losin the other! They even put new soft and colorful toys in there...but I'm not allowed to play with any of them. I don't understand why, they just sit there! There is also a new bed in our room. It looks too scary to sleep in so I just leave it alone. I know mommy would just yell at me anyways, so I stay away!

Aside from all the new stuff, Mommy has been acting really strange lately. She packed this big suitcase with all kinds of stuff and it just sits in our room. She sleeps a lot too, and doesn't like to get woken up by my kisses or my frisby. Daddy has been playing with me though - but he's been cleaning a lot. I'm tellin ya, something is very strange around here. If someone would want to leave a comment and fill me in, that would be great! When I'm not guarding the house, I've been trying to check the blog while Mommy and Daddy are at work.

In the mean time, I'll continue to be a good boy and do what I'm told.

Bark at you soon,
Miles

35 weeks

So we had another eventful couple of weeks...I had a routine appointment scheduled at 34 weeks. I had been having some cramping that day so I thought maybe i'd tell the nurse. She advised me that the doctor would want to do an exam just to be on the safe side. Well, what we found out was that I was already 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. That would be a good thing, had we been 37 weeks along - but Dr. Somani said that between weeks 34 and 36 they would try and stop labor. So...she sent me home that day to rest and put me on medication that would stop contractions. The bad part about this medicine is, it makes my heart race and therefore, impossible to sleep at night ( as if I need any more help, not sleeping). I was also put on 'modified bedrest' which basically means Don't Overdue it.

We made it to week 35 and had another appointment on Thursday - good news, no change! She said if I could just make it to 36 weeks, then I could do "whatever I wanted." Woohoo! For the last two weeks i've been measuring a week behind. The doctor said that this could be because our baby has already 'dropped' or because he's just not a big baby - and...smaller babies are "easier to push out." :-)

We have another appointment next Wednesday where they will do an ultrasound to make sure our little boy is just the right size. We're in the home stretch - just a few more weeks until we finally get to meet our little guy!

Due to my "progress" last week...Moe and I were unable to attend the wedding of a very dear friend. So - I just wanted to take a second and say CONGRATS to Megan and Ben Brady - I'm so sorry that we couldn't be in attendance to your big day, but we were definitely there in spirit. We love you both and wish you all the luck and happiness in your lives together!

Have a great weekend!

Happiest Lady on the Block

I felt like such a lucky mommy at my adorable shower thrown by my very best friend Megan Johnson. As you can see from the photos, no detail was 0ver looked. The pic below is of one of three clothes line displays. This particular clothes line included custom made onesies by Megan that we will keep and cherish forever. I know they are a little hard to see in the photo, but they say things like, "Moe's Boy", "Future Bobcat", "Coach's son", and "Growing strong for the 2026 Hockey Season." Megan, her mom, and sisters, even wore blue in honor on our baby boy.

We had delicous food and snacks and my particular favorite (other than the diaper cake) was a special table that contained all of mommy's "cravings." Again, this may be difficult to see from the photo but Megan put together all the foods I can't live without. So far...those have included every kind of fruit, apples n' peanut butter, and chips n' salsa.

Guests at the shower were given lip gloss and little blue candies as favors. These were set up on a table that contained photos of Daddy and I when we were in grade school. The resemblance is uncanny - see the photo below. Guests also wrote "advice" for me on little cards, and funny sayings on diapers that are sure to make us laugh during late night diaper changes.

We are very lucky to have such amazing people in our lives. It was very special for me to celebrate this special day with people I've grown up with - and some that were there the day I was born. We can't wait to meet our little boy and share with him our world that is surrounded by, such loving, family and friends.

Megan - Thank you, so much, for EVERYTHING! Not only the shower, and making that day so incredibly special, but for being there for me everyday since we met in 8th grade! You have been the best friend any girl could ask for.
"Everyone has a "best friend" during each stage of life - only a precious few have the same one."
I love you Meg!!
UPDATE:
It's been so long since we updated the blog...there are some other updates I thought I'd include. First of all, I don't have gestational diabetes. I finally met with my doctor who was just as shocked as I was when they received the high results from the lab. I had another test done which came back normal. They still don't know why my reading was so high - so between now and when the baby comes I will continue to limit that amount of hard sugars I have. The best news was that I don't have to check my blood anymore. Dr. Somani suggested testing myself every once in a while to make sure there aren't certain triggers that spike my blood sugar. But - that beats four times a day!!

Our baby has also "turned." He had been in the breach position which worried me b/c I was born breach. Although being breach isn't typically hereditary - there is a chance I could have inherited narrow hips that would make it difficult for the baby to fit in the head down position. Luckily this doesn't appear to be the case. At our 31st week appointment he was head down and has continued to be there ever since. There is a chance he could still turn back in the breach position but we will keep our fingers crossed.

We are 33 weeks - the baby weights about 4 1/2 lbs and is over 18 inches long. We're in the home stretch - or at least that's what people tell me. It doesn't seem real that in 7 weeks we'll finally get to meet our little one. However, that day could not come any sooner. As much as I enjoy being pregnant - the uncomfortableness has definitely set in. It's difficult to sleep - and even harder to get comfortable. Even sitting on the couch is a challenge these days. But, I just keep telling myself that we only have a few more weeks left until our lives change forever!
Hope everyone had a happy and healthy 4th of July!

28 weeks!

We've had a very busy couple of weeks - as usual! On May 19th Baby Morris went to his very first wedding! Mommy and Daddy got all dressed up (dressing up is not the easiest thing to do at this point) and went to Lindy and Jeff Deal's wedding. It was so much fun to see everyone and Lindy looked beautiful! As you can see from the photo, our baby is definitely getting bigger! Oh...and I've come to the conclusion that heals are no longer an option!

We had our 26 weeks appointment with our high risk doctor. I was really anxious to see how my cervix was looking since it had been about two weeks since the last time it was measured. We weren't scheduled for an ultrasound, but I was able to see the baby's feet as, I had felt through out the week, had been kicking my cervix! Guess what? My cervix hadn't changed a bit! Great news! I only have one more appointment with him and then we're done!

The doctor was a little backed up so the nurses took me into a special room and showed me quick pictures of the baby! It never gets old watching him swim around in there! It's funny to see how little room he has, but what he does with it. Right now he's in what's called the Frank Breach position. He is head up, bottom down, and his legs are stretched directly over his head! Can you see from the photo?

Baby Morris also had a chance to celebrate with one of Mommy's closest friends, Megan. She is getting married in July and was having her bachelorette party in Athens, Memorial Day weekend. It was so fun to see Megan, hang out with the girls, catch up, and laugh about old times at O.U.! Baby Morris even got a photo with Megan - though Mommy doesn't think this is the best pic of her...we just had to share.

To add a little bit more drama to the pregnancy, the doctor said that I have gestational diabetes. The way they test this is with a glucose test, usually done between 26 and 28 weeks. You drink a 20oz orange drink that is really high in sugar, and then an hour later they take your blood and test the sugar levels to see how your body reacts. My score came back so high, they didn't even schedule me for the typical three hour, more thorough, exam.

Needless to say, this came as a bit of a shock! I don't have any of the risk signs (family history of diabetes, obese, second pregnancy...etc.). I'm still not convinced that they got this right however, I'll do whatever I need to make this baby healthy. Moe and I met with a nurse on Friday and she showed us how to test my blood. I have to prick my finger four times a day (once right when I wake up, and then two hours after each meal) and document my results to show Dr. Somani at my appointmet next week.

I've adjusted my diet and so far all my readings have been absolutely perfect! We haven't even met with the dietician (our appt. is on Wednesday) but have mostly just cut out all high sugar foods (cake, ice cream, candy) and drinks (fruit juices). I'm really looking forward to speaking with my doctor after a week of monitoring to see what she says. As always, we'll keep you posted. Honestly, this has been a bit discouraging. I mean...when you're pregnant, you're suppose to be able to eat whatever you want and not have to worry about counting calories, carbs, or sugars. But, we just have a few months left and although it's not the best case scenerio - I'll do whatever I need to make our baby healthy.

I'm going to try and do a better job of updating the blog more often. I'll try to take more pics of my belly as I continue to grow. Right now our baby is over 10 inches long and weighs about 2.5lbs! He moves like crazy and is constently reminding me he's in there! Just 12 more weeks to go!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Mother's Day - Just shy of 26 weeks

We've had a very eventful few weeks since our last post! We had an appointment with Dr. Somani Tuesday April 29th - which was a follow up to our hospital visit. She wasn't satisfied with my cervix so she put me on bedrest for the whole rest of the week leading up to my next High Risk Appointment which was scheduled for that Friday May 2nd. Although to some (me included) bedrest didn't sound so bad...I get to lay in bed all day, watch TV, read, talk on the phone...Great! Well...turns out...not so great! I could only get up to use the bathroom, shower, and grab a quick bite. Everything else had to be done by Moe. Even though it was only for four days I felt weaker and even drained. It was very difficult to sleep at night when you've been in bed all day.

Anways, the High Risk doctor was behind that day so we had to wait over an hour in the waiting room. Once we were in the nurse measured my cervix and it measured great! The doctor said that even though I was having mild contractions, and cramping that this doesn't necessarily mean i'm going through pre-term labor. He said that based on my cervix, he didn't see any reason why I wouldn't carry the baby full term and he sees no reason why I should be on bedrest. YIPPEE! That was the best news! However, it only got better! Because we waited so long in the waiting room, they ended up doing an ultrasound! We got some great 4-D photos which is what you see posted. In these pics you can see that he's sleeping with his head rested on his hand. Look at how big our little guy is getting!

I celebrated my very first Mother's Day on Sunday. I wasn't expecting it to be a very special day. Besides, I'm technically not a mother yet. However, Moe would have none of that. He made me a great breakfast of pancakes and bacon (my fav!!) and even had two Mother's Day cards for me! One was from Miles, and the other was from the baby! Very sweet! It's crazy to think that by this time next year our little boy will be eight months old!

I've decided that the nursery isn't far enough along to post pics. I'd like to get the bedding and curtains, as well as some other odds and ends, then I'll be sure to show photos.

Two more weeks until we're in our third trimester! The baby is about 8.5 inches and weighs a little over a pound and a half! Big boy!

Hope you all had a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!

Love,

Emily and Moe

23 weeks

Sorry it's been a couple weeks between posts, it's hard to think of new things to report! As you can see from the pic, my belly is getting bigger by the day. These were taken by Aunt Lorey at cousin Owen's 5th birthday party - so they're about two weeks old. I feel like i'm even bigger now, but maybe that's just my imagination. However, my belly button is now even with the rest of my belly - which just seems crazy! Our baby is now just over a pound!

We did have a pretty eventful week. I started having some cramps on Wednesday afternoon. I called my doctor to make sure this was nothing to be concerned with. They sent me immediately to Labor and Delivery. I was a little concerned but we got in a room right away! The Doctor poked, prodded, and got me hooked up on a bunch of equipment. We got to hear the baby's heartbeat, and all his little movements. Some of his movements I could hear and feel at the same time. Anyways, they released us about three hours later and wanted me to be on 'modified bedrest.' Basically what this means is that I'm suppose to 'take it easy' and have breaks throughout the day. They didn't really explain why I was having the cramps, they said that maybe I was 'overdoing it' which is why the modified bed rest.

I have an appointment with my OB on Tuesday and another appointment with my specialist on Friday so hopefully we'll get more of an explanation and clarification that everything is still going well in there. I've been feeling pretty good - so we'll see. The baby moves like crazy, and we can see big kicks and stretches from the outside.

By the next post I hope to have an update on our appointments and hopefully some pics of the nursery.

Until then....Emily and Moe

It's a Boy!!

Well, the mystery has been solved! We are thrilled that our little bundle of joy is a bouncing baby boy!! You blog voters out there did a great job! He is very healthy and was busy moving around - as always. During the ultrasound we got to see his brain, heart, arms, legs, and all the little bones he's been so busy building. All that milk I've been drinking has paid off :-) And, most importantly we got to see his private parts - as you can see in the photo to the left. After that they switched into 3-D which is the pic below. He weighed in at just over 11oz and should be over a pound by our next appointment.

However, he isn't the only one that's growing. Mommy is getting bigger as well. Her old jeans just don't seem to fit any longer, and even some tops are struggling to make it past the growing belly. Maternity clothes are inevitable at this point.

Daddy has finally been able to feel our little guy's kicks. We can even see them from the outside now - even though they are still small.

We are still working on the nursery however the paint is up and the floors are down. We even put the crib together last night! It's fun to imagine that one day we'll get to peek in the room and see our little boy sleeping!

Between our appointments today we went and registered at BabiesRUs. After having sisters and friends with babies, I thought I knew a thing or two about this stuff. Well, I was wrong. It was a bit overwhelming but I think we got most of the essentials.

Next on our list is chosing a name. Although we have a few in the running, we're always open for suggestions so feel free to leave a comment and let us know. In the mean time, I'll be sure to let you know how our little boy is growing and any milestones we reach.

Thank you for all the well wishes, it means so much to have a great family and friends!

Love,

Emily and Moe

Busy Baby - 18 weeks

This last week has been a busy one! I was in Sacramento for 5 days for work and one thing the baby and I have in common...neither of us like to fly! I threw up, in a vomit bag, I was sitting in the middle seat, and no - I didn't know either people sitting to my left and right. It was very embarrassing but luckily the flight attendants were very sweet and gave me all the essentials (i.e ginger ale, saltine crackers, and a fresh vomit bag...haha). However, we made it safely and our return trip was little more enjoyable.

When I returned home, Moe had left that afternoon to recruit in New York. I had a long week and a tiring day of travel and all I wanted was to shower, eat a large meal, and watch TiVo. However, to my surprise the house was in complete disarray! After little investigation I realized that Daddy had been VERY busy while I was away. He completely gutted the 'office' - ripped out the carpet, removed all the doors, painted all the trim, and painted the entire room! What a wonderful surprise! Our 'office' is now 'The Nursery.' The paint we chose is absolutely perfect and will go with either a boy or a girl! There is also one wall where he painted vertical stripes...I'm not kidding...it's ADORABLE! We still need flooring and furniture but we've started working on both. I can't wait for you all to see.

The baby has been moving SO MUCH! I can always feel he/she at work in the mornings while checking email, and at night after dinner while watching TV. Although the baby is movin and shakin - Daddy hasn't been able to feel from the outside just yet. It's hard to catch a perfect time - the baby will kick and I will grab Moe's hand and put it on my belly, but by that time the kicking stops. I predict that by next week he will feel our little baby for the first time.

However, we've found other fun ways for Daddy to bond with the baby.
My great friend Abby bought our little one a Dr. Seuss book called Hop on Pop
(with a matching stuffed animal). Since the baby is now able to hear, I laid in bed while Moe read the book to my belly. At the end of the book, the baby
started kicking!! It was very sweet!

We hope you all enjoy your Easter/Holiday weekend. We will be at home doing a few projects, maybe a little more shopping for baby furniture - but most importantly - enjoying the presence of each other. Less than two weeks until we find out the sex! We can't wait!

Happy Easter,

Emily and Moe

3rd appointment - 16 weeks

What a great day! I had two appointments scheduled today. The first was with a specialist, who Dr. Somani recommended, to make sure my cervix looked healthy. I had asked the nurse beforehand if she thought we would get to see the baby - that way I would make sure Daddy would come along. She told me 'no, it would probably be too early.' Well...She was wrong!

While they were checking my cervix they checked the heart, and made sure the baby was kicking. Once they completed I thought we were finished. No way! They brought out an ultrasound machine and concentrated on the baby for about 10 minutes! They measured the head, it's little foot (it measured 1.2cm), and checked the heartbeat. Let me tell you...this baby would not sit still! He/she was moving all over the place - kicking, waving, bouncing, and as you can see from the photo - smiling :-) (also, can you see it's little feet crossed at the ankles? Adorable!!)

I asked the nurse if she could tell if we were going to have a boy or a girl. With much anticipation the nurse said that they couldn't be 100% sure and so we better wait until the baby is a little older. So close! Regardless it was amazing to see it's little fingers and toes. I texted Daddy a pic of the baby on the monitor and he called right away and asked "where did you get that?" I told him about the ultrasound and all we could do was giggle back and forth. We were both disappointed that he wasn't there...however, he'll get to see the baby at our next appointment (April 3rd) and then we will find out the sex.

After that appointment we (Daddy included) went to see Dr. Somani! I showed her the pic of our little baby and she said..."look at it laughing!" They we listened to the heartbeat which made me and Daddy giggle again! We could hear he/she moving around and it took Dr. Somani a couple seconds for the baby to settle down to find it's little heart. She said that we were at about 162 beats a minute - very strong and healthy!

Between now and our last appointment i've been feeling little 'flutters' which I can only imagine is the baby! It's the greatest feeling! It's not constant yet, and I still have to concentrate to be sure it's actually the baby - and not just my gurgling insides. But it makes me smile every time!

Well...we had a very eventful day and Mommy is tired! Make sure you vote boy or girl on our poll before our next appointment (April 3rd)! We will be SURE to post ASAP to let you all know the big surprise!

Until next week...Emily and Moe

Daddy's point of view - 15 weeks

I am anxiously awaiting moving into my nesting phase. You know me...I enjoy home improvements and the opportunity to modify our office (aka The Nursery) will be a theraputic transition after a long hockey season.

I've been enjoying my wife's healthy appetite and watching her belly grow. In a little over a month the mystery will be solved on the gender of our baby. People often ask me if I prefer a boy over a girl - my answer is this:
I will be happy either way, a healthy baby is all we need.

Thank you all for your support throughout my season. We head to Nationals this week in NY and we will be sure to let you know how it goes.
More next week...Moe

Maybe Baby Bump? Just shy of 14 weeks

Well, I promised some pics of my growing belly...so here you are! Keep in mind that this was taken after one of Moe's hearty homemade dinners. Well...do you see a bump? I'm starting to think that there is something growing in there!
No flutters yet, but I'm anxiously awaiting some baby movement! However, I can feel some stretching, pulling, and movement from some of my organs, ligaments, and muscles. It's a strange feeling to think that my body is "making room."

We are just a few days from being in our 14th week. At this time the baby is between 3 and 4 1/2 inches long and weighs about 1 oz - about the size of a fist. It's also starting to grow hair all over it's body called lanugo which grows in whirled patterns and will eventually turn into the baby's fingerprints...crazy!
We are anxiously awaiting our next appointment (March 6th) where we will get to hear that little heartbeat again! By that time, hockey will be over and we will start to plan the nursery! I will be sure to post photo's of our progress!
Love to all,
Emily and Moe

2nd appointment - 12 weeks

We had our second appointment today, and even though it wasn't as productive...it was just as fulfilling. Dr. Somani came in and said that all my blood work came back negative and that I was a healthy mommy. Then she brought out the doppler to hear the heartbeat. So many people had told me, "don't get discouraged if she can't find the heartbeat right away, sometimes it takes a while." Well...she found it RIGHT AWAY! It was music to my ears being the last week of my first trimester! However, the best part was when we heard a little kick! It makes me smile even when I type this! That was pretty much the extent of the appointment. I also got a flu shot to keep those pesky germs away, especially since I'm going to be flying a lot in the next couple months for work.

So far I have been feeling wonderful! No morning sickness, and the exhaustion has started to wear off...however, I do have some days where I'm just not sure if I'm going to make it. At night my belly seems so big, especially after one of Moe's home cooked meals. I'll be sure to post a photo so you all can see it! I can't feel the baby moving just yet but my doctor said I may feel some flutters between now and my next appointment (March 6th).

Thank you all for the kind words, prayers, cards, and well wishes. Your support means so much to us and we can't wait for you all to meet our little one.

Love! Emily and Moe

Our first look at our little baby!

Today was our first doctor's appointment! Both Mommy and Daddy were nervous, but couldn't wait to see their baby for the first time. Dr. Somani came in and was very excited to hear the happy news that we were expecting. She got right to work! We did a vaginal ultrasound which is a good thing b/c the baby is about the size of a medium olive!

We saw the little baby right away. It was all head (just like Daddy) and had little arm and leg buds. The heartbeat was strong at 170 beats a minute! We saw the yolk sac (that will eventually go away) and the amniotic sac that has started to form. My uterus is about the size of a grapefruit, but is more than enough room for our baby that is only about a half inch long - crown to rump. Our due date was as expected of August 20th, 2008 so that makes Mommy about eight weeks along.

After our ultrasound, Mommy had to give a whole lot of blood and ended up passing out. She woke up on the floor with about six nurses all crowded around. Not to worry, all was well...Mommy is just a little squeemish.

I hope you enjoy the photos of our baby. They are hard to make out as He/She (it's not decided yet as the genitals haven't been established) is very small.

We are so blessed!!

Love, Emily and Dan
